MALAYSIA : THEN AND NOW __ transport for school

TRANSPORT - the movement of people, animals and goods from one location to another .
- modes of transport include air, rail, road, water, cable, pipeline and space .

basically, transport is important since it enables trade between peoples, which in turn establishes civilizations .

'' transport also known as vehicle ''

today, it is clearly shown that our technology develop . if before this, it is not a must for Malaysian citizens to have car, but, today, our demand have changed dramatically . each one of us need at least one car, if not, motorcycle also enough for us to move from one place to another place . easy, right ? save time too .

but, i guess, our great great grandfather/grandmother were much more healthier compared to us cause they exercise lots . it is not about they spend time on jogging or physical training . but, people long time ago, used to walk in order to move . we are different, right ? sometimes, it is true that technology development may harm us as the user too :)

okey .

based on economic problem and currency value, not all of Malaysian citizens afford to buy a transport . before 1957, it is hard for each students to attend school . can you imagine ? walk in rain ? without shoes ? just to attend class ? actually, my generation never face this hardship .
http://utuhpaloi.com/2010/10/14/kereta-warga-emas/

for those who have lots of money, they may afford to buy bicycle in order to move . but, for those who are rich enough they may buy car too .

however, students long time ago, used to attend school by walking . majority of them . . .
even in rainy day, sunny day or windy day .

TODAY .

as shown, lots of public transport, even school bus also prepared for students to attend class . on the other hand, if you notice, students nowadays also may have their car or motorcycle . during Form 4, my friends also used to attend school by driven his own car .

but, do you think it is suitable for our students to bring their own vehicles in school ? does it harm ? how about side effect by bring their own vehicle ?

bye :)

MALAYSIA : THEN AND NOW __ sing song

what is song ?

  • song can be define as a composition for voice or voices, performed by singing. it may also refer to an instrumental musical position and musical instruments .
musical composition - colloquial in American English
musical instruments - choral or vocal song

basically, the lyrics of songs are typically of a poetic, rhyming nature, though they may be religious verses or free prose too .

'' music as identity ''

since kindergarten, we learn music at school . during school, we will learn folk song and art song . ''Pak Pandir - Yang Remeh Temeh'' is the sample of folk song and recorder sound is the example of art song .

Yang Remeh Temeh

ada mata pandang
ada telinga dengar
ada mulut diam
ada tangan garu
ada kaki goyang

ada otak pandai
ada akal pakai
ada bijak gadai
ada mata pejam
ada mulut kunyah

yang remeh dan yang temeh
berlegar di sekelilingmu
berlegar di sekelilingmu
butlah . . (buatlah) . .
buatlah tak tahu
butlah . . (buatlah) . .
buatlah tak tahu

rela jadi tunggul
rela jadi patung
tunggu dilelong
suruh angguk angguk
suruh geleng geleng

oh pujilah aku
ampu lah aku
senang hidupmu
ada tangan tadah
ada maruah campak

yang remeh dan yang temeh
berlegar di sekelilingmu
berlegar di sekelilingmu
butlah . . (buatlah) . .
buatlah tak tahu

butlah . . (buatlah) . .
buatlah tak tahu

so, as we can see here, music is part of our life . everyone know how to sing, but not all of us can sing well like Siti Nurhaliza, right ?

but, what student may learn through music ?
  • define student personality
  • understand the role that music plays in shaping their concept identity
then, because of this courage, we usually have to sing our national anthem every day - Negaraku . here , it is a must for each student to remember our national anthem lyrics . why ? have you ever think about what ''Negaraku'' mean to you ? i just miss the moment to sing this song .

NEGARAKU :
  • proud to be Malaysian :
this song is like a symbol that bring our identity as a Malaysian . i believe, other countries may have their own national anthem, and same goes like Malaysia . through this song, it show us own how harmony and peaceful the place with name - Malaysia .

but, do you know ?
before this, at school, our great great grandfather/grandmother need to sing '' Aikoku Koushin '' - from Japan . as a symbol that we are not free and under Japanese control, so, all students even the teachers in Tanah Melayu need to sing this song every morning before they start their learning . you need to listen to this song :)

by right, we need to be proud with our country . why ?
since 1957, we do not need to sing other countries song at our place . so, we have build our own identity . each one of us most take a good care of our country so, we will not repeat the history and we will remain sing our Negaraku .

this is why ''music is our identity'' .
proud to be malaysian :) thanks god .

MALAYSIA : THEN AND NOW __ dress code

SCHOOL : '' institution designed for the teaching of students under the direction of teachers . most countries have systems of formal education, which is commonly compulsory, include Malaysia . in these systems, students progress through a series of schools . ''

it is easy to understand, school is the place where we play, learn and also grow together . in other to adapt with our new environment as a student, we experience lots from school . basically, role of a school is to develop raw child to perfect .

hereby, to shape a good attitude from school, it is important to emphasize on dress code during school day . before my generation, students also need to obey their dress code same like us . they cannot wear inappropriate clothes to attend school .

for sure, school is the place where child growth . for example, when cubs want to learn in playing . lions or lionesses help them will help them to learn in playful way and when the cubs grow, they will became best hunters to survive . so, same like school, students grow up there and learn on how to survive for the future .

next, what students wear during school ?

LONG TIME AGO . . .
in Malaysia . . .

  • majority of the students did not wear shoes at school - it is hard to buy shoes at that time cause only elite family afford to buy shoes .
  • wear short pants - tie is not compulsory for the students
  • skirt for the girls
  • it is not a must to wear tudung at that time

TODAY . . .
in Malaysia . . .

  • advance - wear proper dress
  • all students wear shoes to go to school -  http://bata.com.my/  http://conversemalaysia.com/
  • most of Muslim students wear tudung, especially the students that come from rural area - like me
  • for boy - they need to buy tie and the students will get punish if they do not wear tie during school day .
''our attire present our identity''

so, it is important to teach students nowadays to wear proper attire during school . it is not just for our good, but also so students safety itself . but, how about the dress code for teacher ? eehh . so far, i don't get any info about them . click :)

p/s : lagu sekolah rendah aku dulu . still lirik dan rentak yang sama . excited rasa nak share :)

MALAYSIA : THEN AND NOW __ students responsibility

hi again .

last few hours ago, i went to my friend's room which is Siti Aisyah Nabilah Binti Alias . i guess, i want to share gossip for today with her . however, her mood spoil my mood too . she is stress with her ton of work . so, in order to avoid any conflict, i just let her done his jobs . good luck :)

wish her to be patient and strong . chayo !

so, do you think you are tough enough to be a student today ? let take a challenge .

to be born from this generation, i think it is difficult for me to be a student . WHY ?

as  i share with you my friend's story, Aisyah, she is also hold the same status as me - STUDENT-
but, why she suffered with stress lots ? last weeks, i watch her cry cause of her daily routine as a student too . so pity .

then, are you agree with me i state that students from this generation actually hold more responsibility than before ?

WHAT STUDENTS DO LONG TIME AGO . . .

1. help their parent to support their family :
before this, after finish school at noon, students usually spent their time to work . from my dad story, after he finish school, he went to mosque for pray, then, at the same place he finish his homework . later, about 03.00  pm, he went to the farm to help my grandfather by doing cow-hand . long time ago, it is hard to earn money, so, the children will help their parent by doing rubber taping, selling food and also wood cutter . one of the reason why i'm proud about my dad is, he came from ordinary family that face hardship to earn money . so, he is the survivor .

2. recite ALQURAN at night :
at night, students usually spent more time at home . in order to avoid from communist, it is more safer to be at home rather than outside . students will go to mosque for Maghrib and Isya' . but, it is time to recite ALQURAN suring the gap between Maghrib and Isya'. when het came back home, they will doing their revision and get enough sleep compared with us today .

WHAT STUDENTS DO TODAY . . .

1. attend curriculum activity :
after finish school at 0200 pm, students need to be at school for their curriculum activities . students nowadays need to choose their own club such as Kelab Pengakap, Kelab Remaja Sekolah, Persatuan Puteri Islam, Persatuan Pandu Puteri and Persatuan Kadet Bersatu Sekolah . it is tired to be at school . in the morning, you need to focus and used your brain, while, in the evening, you need your physical strength to march and also do physical training . the result, you go back home with exhausted body . arrgghhh .

2. extra class :
it is not enough, cause during night students need to attend extra class . for sure this extra class will start at 0800-1000 pm . again, we need to use our brain power and this is really sick .

as for me, it is hard to be a student today . sometimes, we need to do the jobs that is not suit with us as a student .

report for club ? why should burden student ?
club activities meeting ? again, why burden student too ?

so, when is the suitable time for us to make revision and also homework ? besides, how about our time to recite ALQURAN ?

if you notice, Malaysia become hotter than before . basically, our natural environment and also study environment may lead us to stress and it is depend on us on how to manage our stress .

test your stress here :) i find it is interesting . and sure, i am stressful . sigh .

MALAYSIA : THEN AND NOW __ education tools

hi guys .

you might be agreed if i told you that :

we need history, not to tell us what happened or to explain the past .
but to make the past alive, so that it can explain us and make a future possible .

nowadays, the combination between education and technology has been considered the main key to human progress . tactically, it is not complete for you as a human when you study master/PHD, but you know nothing about technology . same as when you are an expert technology development, but you know anything about education field .

this year, we celebrate our national day for 55 years . actually, it is a pride for us as Malaysian . congrats Malaysia :)

basically, we growth very well after 55 years we are free from any colonialist . we reform well in technology, sports, culture and for sure in our educational system .

as my post title is about education tools, so, let me share with you all some information about it. in education, we also need other device to help us in teaching and learning .

STUDENT :

1. stationary
papan batu dan kalam batu
note book and pen
long time ago, students usually write on their ' papan batu ' or we also call it ' papan selisih '. this item made from pieces of wood, for their casing and stone plaster for their screen . formerly, students will take a note and then before they erase their note taking, they need to remember their note first . so, i guess, i know why old folks generation still good in their knowledge skills today . compared with us today, sometimes, when i am taking my notes, but i don't really read it after i write it . it is because, it is easy for us to get a piece of paper and also a pen . besides, if i am finish using my books, i can buy others note books in a book store, right? you may click here for further explanation http://ditelanzaman.blogspot.com/2011/02/papan-batu-ipad-zaman-dahulu.html

2. textbook

as for me as a reader, and also as a student, i might said that, textbooks nowadays is more attractive and catchy . textbooks for our first generation is less colourful and also lack of diagram . today, our textbooks offered more colours and diagrams too in order to help students understand more on certain topic. however, the main objectives of this textbooks is still remains the same and never change . although the packaging of this textbooks had change rapidly, but textbooks role still maintain, to help student do their revision .

TEACHER
long time ago, they used cupboard and chalk to deliver their knowledge/idea towards their students . however, teacher from this generation, may used projector during their class hour . tactically, this modern method of learning is more effective compared with the traditional method . using projector, teachers can gave more input about their subjects to make their students understand more on certain topics . besides, teachers also can show videos, add music as an additional material to help their students .

enjoy your day to watch this sample of video that may attract your students :)

hilang ditelan zaman .
